Houston Dynamo FC forward Gabe Segal joins DC United. Segal most notably notched a brace in his return to New York against NYCFC. In his time in Houston, Segal mostly played a crucial part in the Dynamo’s MLS Next Pro affiliate, Houston Dynamo Dos. Segal scored 10 goals in 10 games in the 2024 MLS Next Pro season. The Bethesda, Maryland native brings US youth National team energy and will look to improve on his solid start in the pros.
DC United has also picked up defender Keisuke Kurokawa from Gamba Osaka in the J1 League. The left back has been praised for his ability to move up and down the field, especially in transitional play. This is something that harmed DC severely in the 2025 season. It’s key for Kurokawa to really take advantage of space in the wide areas to compliment new DP Tai Baribo who typically likes to hover within the 18-yard box.

Then another dangerous attacker to compliment Baribo is Romanian International forward Louis Munteanu from CFR Cluj. The DP showed promise scoring 23 goals two years ago, and if he’s able to even half that amount it would bring a new attacking depth that DC haven’t seen since Lucho Acosta and aging Wayne Rooney came to the nation’s capital. D.C. United Managing Director of Soccer Operations, Dr. Erkut Sogut, commented about the 23 year old “His movement off the ball, tireless work rate, ability to create space, and instinctive finishing in the final third add another dimension to our attack. Winning the Golden Boot in the SuperLiga in his first season with CFR Cluj is a testament to Louis’ work ethic and natural goal-scoring ability.”

The historic club look to really shake things up amidst a poor 2025, and they are certainly making the moves to reflect that mindset.
